fan 4

this reminds me of "the time machine" for some reason. not so much the book as the movie(s), i think. in the 1960 version, the people were drawn to the sphinx by the sound an air-raid siren, which came out of a creepy orafice like the one above. very scary...

fan 14

so many fans, and they're all have those nice little placards. i would have taken a sharpie to them, personally. it would save some money. and then labeling a buttload of fans would give you a nice sharpie high. :c)

rust and sky. so opposite, yet so similar. the colors of both are caused by oxygen. the metal is turned red by oxidation, and the sky is turned blue by the oxygen (& nitrogen) in the atmosphere scattering the blue lightwaves.

it's all...connected...whoa.

duck, duck, goose?

the canadian geese often frequent the huntsville-area ponds. they are very majestic, strutting around, flying in formation, and walking across the highway exit ramps like they own the place. but they can't catch bread to save their lives.

portrait of a duck

i've always been puzzled by the warty-faced ducks (i don't know their real name). they behave so much like dogs; it's scary. they "pant" and wag their tails and scratch their heads w/ their feet. kind of endearing. in a duck sort of way.

the pond

the pond @ UAH. sometimes i go to the pond when i have extra time & i read, or eat, or talk to the ducks. they were pretty boring the day this picture was taken. i like the ducks farther down the bank better.

secret stairwell

this is one of the secret stairwells beginning on the (under)ground floor. they are bathed in an almost tangible yellow/white light that is creepy as heck. nothing is the color it seems.

dr. pepper

from the ground floor, there are two stairwells that go all the way up to the third floor. i like to call them the "secret stairwells." of course, the third floor door is locked. and this is the view through the locked third floor door.

1234?

ok, if the library only has 3 floors, why is there a 4th floor indicator? hmm? hmm? all arrows point to a secret 4th floor! so then there must be stairs leading to it in case of emergency, right? well, there're not listed in the floor maps posted on the walls. and the secret stairways leading from the (under)ground floor don't lead to it. so i'm going to see if the old-style line drawings of the floors show anything different. stay tuned...

only three floors? ha!

the rear elevator at the salmon library. it goes the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, as you can plainly see. however, there is one hole right above the 3rd floor button that looks like a hole for a button but is, in fact, a hole for a keyhole. could that lead to a secret 4th floor? more proof to come...

40

this is not from the library. if i remember correctly, it's a parking lot light off of university drive. i don't know why it's number 40.

drawers

1st floor, salmon library. i like looking at these drawers. i wonder why they moved the 5 yellow drawers to the orange cabinet.

fire extinguisher

when there's a fire, you're supposed to use the stairs. well, there are about 63 staircases in the Salmon Library. I'm afriad i would die trying to decide which stairs to take.

dryer

3rd floor bathroom hand dryer. even though you can't tell in the picture, it's got a little glittery look to it. very retro-chique. and it has a sweet little essay on the metal plate about why hand dryers are better than paper towels.

stall colors

a bathroom in the salmon library. i thought the color scheme was interesting. more colorful than most library bathrooms.

sno. g.

sign remnants at the salmon library, 3rd floor. is it "snog" or "sno g"?

summer's spanish sponge cake

my sister likes to "experiment" with food. she told me she would make me pancakes if i ate her "spanish sponge cake" aka not-quite-cooked-dough with powdered sugar, vanilla wafers, and Reece's shell topping. it was disgusting, but i soldiered on through the whole thing, even though afterward she said i didn't have to eat all of it. i did get my pancakes, though. and they were fully cooked.

square

the wall of the gym at the W in Columbus, MS. all of the buildings at the W had interesting brickwork. i was facinated by this wall each time i walked by it on the way to class. the random bush, the picnic table, and the open window pane really set off the scene.
